Welcome to Mozambique

Mozambique is a warm country, with beautiful places and exotic beaches, with miles of fine white sand undiscovered.

Mozambique has excellent tourism assets, the country’s natural beauty, wildlife, and cultural heritage provide excellent opportunities for beach, cultural and eco-tourism. Its archipelagos contain stories and legends that are still respected from generation to generation. But its charm comes not only from its exotic places or landscapes or environment of their cities, but a contrast in the land and the people who are born and live with passion and intensity.

Mozambique is a Southern African nation whose long Indian Ocean coastline is dotted with popular beaches like Tofo, as well as offshore marine parks. It’s also a diving and snorkeling destination, as is Bazaruto Archipelago farther south, with reefs protecting rare marine life including dugongs.

  • Other

    Bazaruto Archipelago

The Bazaruto Archipelago consists of five idyllic islands: Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, Santa Carolina and Bangue.

The Archipelago is truly one of the most beautiful destinations on the African continent. The area is now protected as a conservation area and national park, including the coral reefs surrounding the islands, making it the only official marine reserve in the country.

The park is one of the largest in the Indian Ocean and a crucial achievement in global marine conservation. A nearly untouched paradise on earth, the archipelago has earned its reputation as the 'Pearl of the Indian Ocean'.

  • Island

    Ilha de Mozambique

Ilha de Mozambique was the capital of Mozambique for nearly four centuries, under Portuguese colonization before the move to Lourenco Marques (now Maputo), and had been used as a major base for the Arab traders since around the 8th century, long before the arrival of the Portuguese.

It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tiny island is only 3km long and very narrow. It's connected by a concrete bridge with the mainland and is said to be crowded by 16,000 inhabitants, most of them living in bustling Macuti Town.

Stone Town occupies the Northern half of the island and is much grander than Macuti town in the South, but both are UNESCO listed because of their significant architecture and cultural tradition.

  • Reserve

    Niassa National Reserve

Niassa Game Reserve in northern Mozambique comprises an area of 42,000 km2 and it contains, by far, the largest concentration of game in Mozambique. The magnificent scenery combined with the size and natural wealth makes Niassa Reserve one of Africa’s last great wildernesses.

Wildlife experts from the Niassa Reserve report about common sights of elephants with enormous and magnificent tusks, something that is more or less impossible to spot these days in other tourist parks thought Africa. The Reserve comprises woodland, open savannahs, seasonal wetlands and riverside forests along the Rovuma and Lugenda Rivers.

Other attractions in the Reserve are the spectacular inselbergs that are making the landscape a spectacular view. The highest of these rock formations is the Mecula Mountain (1441m) in the center of the Reserve.
